The Vatakara Co-operative Hospital was formed and registered under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act. It is the first hospital formed under the co-operative sector in Vatakara taluk and presently ranks first in Kozhikode district. It was established in 1987 in a rented building with one doctor and limited staff. After six months, the premises of the hospital was shifted to another rented building by introducing two more departments i.e. General Medicine and Paediatrics with pharmacy, laboratory, ECG etc. It is enjoying the status of a multi specialty hospital within a short period due to the dedication, commitment and the quality of service to the patient, public and society. Foundation stone laid by his excellency Shri.Justice Sukh Dev Singh Kang The Governor of Kerala on Monday 26 th February 2001.
