'Empathy, Social responsibility and ethical leadership to achieve
sustainable development'- Shri Amithabh Kant
Shri Amithabh Kant ,India's G20 Sherpa and former CEO of NITI Aayog
made his remarks in his convocation address during the 14th Convocation
Ceremony of Yenepoya (deemed to be University) held on 19 th October
2024 at Yendurance Zone,Deralakatte-Mangaluru.
He was delivering his convocation speech and in his speech he highlighted
empathy, social responsibility, and ethical leadership should be the core
values guiding the young graduates to bring about sustainable
development in the society. He encouraged graduates to engage with their
communities, embrace lifelong learning, and harness their innovative spirit
in the evolving landscape of technology and entrepreneurship. He also
addressed the ambitious vision for India's economic future, urging
graduates to be torchbearers in realizing a $30 trillion economy by 2047.
He emphasized the crucial role of young minds in shaping a prosperous
nation through innovation and resilience. "Your journey begins today, and it
is rooted in the connections you forge and the values you carry forward,"
he stated, encouraging graduates to embrace change and impact the world
positively.
Further he motivated graduates to shape their futures with compassion and
openness. He concluded his speech with heartfelt congratulations to the
graduates, urging graduates to be catalysts for change, leveraging their
skills to tackle societal challenges.
DR. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, the Chancellor of the Yenepoya (Deemed to
be University) presided.Shri Amithabh Kant was also conferred with Honorary Doctorate by the
Chancellor of the Yenepoya University for his outstanding contribution to
public service.
During the ceremony a total of 2632 candidates in Faculty of Dentistry,
Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Allied & Health Basic
Sciences, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Faculty of Science,
Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences were awarded with
PhD, under graduate, and post graduate degrees. 10 gold medals were
distributed to the toppers in various UG courses.
Dr. M. Vijayakumar, Vice Chancellor of the University welcomed. Dr.
Gangadhara Somayaji K. S, Registrar, Yenepoya (Deemed to be
University) presented the annual report.
Mr. Farhaad Yenepoya, Pro Chancellor, Yenepoya ( Deemed to be
University), Dr. B. H. Sripathi Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya (
Deemed to be University), Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Javeed, BOM Member,
Dr. Akhter Husain, Secretary of IAE, Dr. Vedprakash Mishra-EC member
and Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, Trustee of IAE were on the dais.
Dr. B.T. Nandish, Controller of Examinations, Yenepoya (Deemed
to be University) administered the oath to the graduates. He also proposed
a vote of thanks.
Other Statutory Officers, Deans, Centre Heads and faculty from the
constituent units along with members of Academic Council and Board of
Management were present on the event.
Dr. Mallika Shetty and Dr. Rochelle Tellis compeered the programme.
