The Anti-Ragging Monitoring Cell of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) organized the
National Anti-Ragging Day and Week Observation - 2026 on 20 August 2026 at the MEU Hall,
Yenepoya Medical College, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program was organized by the
Office of the Dean, Student Affairs, with the primary objective of empowering and equipping
selected Anti-Ragging Peer Mentors with the knowledge, awareness, and skills necessary to
actively contribute to the prevention of ragging and foster a safe, respectful, inclusive, and
ragging-free campus environment.
The program was graced by Mrs. Najma Farooqi, ACP, Traffic Sub-Division, Mangaluru, as the
Chief Guest, and Dr. Shakil M., Deputy Registrar, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), as the
Guest of Honour.
The program featured two key awareness sessions: "Know the Rules: University Anti-Ragging
Policy & UGC Regulations," conducted by Dr. Maji Jose, Dean, Student Affairs, covering the
University's anti-ragging policy, student responsibilities, and disciplinary provisions; and
"Empathy: The Choice that Creates a Ragging-Free Campus," conducted by Dr. Viji Prasad C,
Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, focusing on empathy, mutual respect, and the role of students in
promoting a supportive and ragging-free campus.
Around 150 Anti-Ragging Peer Mentors from all constituent units of Yenepoya (Deemed to be
University), along with the respective Anti-Ragging Nodal Officers, attended the program and
took anti ragging pledge administered by Mrs Najma Farooqi.. The session strengthened their
understanding of anti-ragging regulations, enhanced their preparedness to address potential
concerns, and encouraged them to serve as peer role models and ambassadors for a safe and
ragging-free campus.
The program reinforced the University's zero-tolerance approach to ragging and emphasized the
collective responsibility of students in fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus
environment.
